ABOUT ME

ABOUT ME

Hi friends! My name is Rachel BAE, and I’m currently a 3rd-year student in the Entry-Level Occupational Therapy Doctorate program at USC. Beyond my studies, I wear many hats: I’m a proud mom to a 9-year-old daughter, a loving wife, and a caretaker to my furry and scaly family members—a 14-year-old cat, a 10-year-old dog, a 4-year-old pup, and a 1-year-old bearded dragon. Life is full, but I wouldn’t have it any other way!

After my daughter grew older, I felt it was the perfect time to return to school and chase my professional dreams. Initially, I planned to attend PA school as a former pre-med student, but life had other plans (thanks to some gentle persuasion from a childhood friend who is now in the same OT program as me). Fast forward, and I’m passionately working toward my OTD while discovering new interests along the way.

During a recent fieldwork experience at a skilled nursing facility (SNF), my passion for working with the geriatric population ignited. I became deeply curious about the neurological aspects of conditions like Alzheimer's and Parkinson's disease—their etiology, progression, and prognosis. This experience inspired me to dig deeper into the medical side of patient care, and now I’m setting my sights on pursuing another degree in the medical field. My goal is to blend my growing knowledge of neurology with the foundational skills of OT to better serve my patients.

This journey is nothing short of busy, but I’m fueled by the challenge. From managing school, family life, and pets to indulging in my love for food as a proud foodie, I’m excited to share my story.

Join me as I navigate this exciting chapter as

a student, mom, and lifelong learner! 😊
